Lake Tisza Weed Harvesting Underway to Prevent Oxygen Deficiency Lake Tisza, Hungary is currently undergoing a large-scale weed harvesting operation. This initiative, a joint effort between the MOHOSZ Tisza-tavi Kirendeltség and Tisza-tóért Környezetvédelmi Kft., aims to prevent oxygen depletion in the lake during the summer months. This is vital for the health of the lake's ecosystem and to ensure the continued accessibility of fishing areas for anglers. "The weed harvesting is crucial not only for preventing oxygen deficiency but also for maintaining access to fishing spots and the overall usability of the water," explains Szegedi György, office manager of MOHOSZ Tisza-tavi Kirendeltség. The process involves five boats working to clear approximately 800 hectares of weeds. Around 400 hectares have already been treated since the operation began in early May. This collaboration underscores the importance of joint efforts to protect and preserve Hungary's natural resources. The successful weed harvesting will contribute to a healthy and thriving Lake Tisza for years to come.
