Petropavlovsk's Young Football Stars Shine at Omsk's DERBY CUP Petropavlovsk, Kazakhstan – A team of young footballers from Petropavlovsk's ZHENIS Olympic Reserve Specialized Children's and Youth Sports School recently returned home victorious from the international "DERBY CUP" tournament held in Omsk, Russia from May 15th to 18th. The 8 and 9-year-old players competed against strong opponents, demonstrating exceptional skill and determination. "Each day we played two matches," said Kanat Mukhamedzhanov, the team's coach. "The most challenging match was on the second day. The opposing team was very strong, but the boys showed incredible resilience." Despite the tough competition, the Petropavlovsk team secured victory in several matches, including a 3-2 win against Omsk's "Lokomotiv" club. Their success culminated in a first-place finish in the tournament, a testament to their hard work and dedication. One young player, Elinur Asylbek, a forward, shared his excitement, stating, "I've been playing football for a year now, and I have two gold and three silver medals." The team's victory is a source of pride for Petropavlovsk and a significant achievement in youth sports.
