World Blood Donor Day: Kazakhstan Blood Center Celebrates Life-Saving Donations
World Blood Donor Day: Regional Blood Center in Kazakhstan Reports High Donation Numbers On June 14, 2025, the regional blood center in North Kazakhstan celebrated World Blood Donor Day. The center reported that nearly 10,000 people donated blood in the past year. The event included an open house for media representatives. "Before donating, each resident undergoes a medical examination," explained a blood center staff member. "Height, weight, and hemoglobin levels are checked to ensure the donor's safety and the quality of the blood." Donors also receive refreshments afterward. Director Sabirzhan Tugelov stressed the importance of these checks. "If a person is under a doctor's care or taking medication, they cannot donate," he said. He also noted that people with tattoos or piercings are ineligible. Olga Rogacheva, a donor for 10 years, shared her experience: "I donate six times a year. I feel great afterward, and it's rewarding to know I'm helping others." The center aims to increase blood donations, especially among young people. The event highlighted the life-saving impact of blood donation, emphasizing that a single donation can save up to three lives.
