PTI Activist Faces Charges in London Court: Threats and Avenfield Incident
Activist Gulfram Hussain, a supporter of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, appeared in Southwark Crown Court in London today. He is charged with harassment and making threats against Zikriya Sharif, the grandson of former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Hussain is also accused of throwing stones at the Avenfield flats, a property owned by the Sharif family. The court hearing was a preliminary hearing, and Hussain pleaded not guilty to all charges. The judge set a trial date for July 19, 2027. Until then, Hussain is subject to strict bail conditions, including being confined to a specific area and wearing an electronic monitoring tag. A GEO TV reporter present at the court stated, "This is a significant case, and the trial date being so far out highlights the court's busy schedule." The case highlights the ongoing tensions surrounding the Sharif family and political activism in the UK. The trial in 2027 will be closely watched.
