Belarus Launches Nationwide Motorcycle Safety Campaign After Accident Spike
Grodno Region, Belarus – May 18, 2025. A sharp increase in motorcycle accidents in Belarus has prompted a heightened response from the State Auto Inspection (GAI). According to a recent video released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 50 road accidents involving motorcyclists have occurred this year alone, resulting in eight fatalities and 52 injuries. To address this concerning trend, the GAI is launching a week-long nationwide preventative campaign from May 18th to 24th. "In the interests of preventing such accidents," stated a GAI officer in the video, "the campaign will involve increased patrols and public awareness efforts." The campaign will include visible and covert monitoring of motorcycle traffic to enforce traffic laws. The video also highlights efforts to educate motorcyclists on safe riding practices and the proper registration procedures. This proactive approach aims to reduce motorcycle accidents and improve road safety across Belarus.
