
Local Officers Extinguish Truck Fire, Preventing Major Loss
In Novopolotsk, Belarus, on May 29, 2025, quick-thinking officers from the Department of Guard prevented a significant loss when they swiftly extinguished a truck fire. While on patrol, officers Vadim Shamshur and Nikita Bondarenko noticed smoke emanating from a parked MAN truck. Upon closer inspection, they found flames erupting from the battery compartment. The driver was absent, having stepped away to visit a nearby store. "We immediately grabbed the fire extinguisher and started working," recounted Officer Shamshur. Using their equipment and resourcefulness, the officers successfully extinguished the blaze before it could spread to the truck's cargo. The driver, upon returning, expressed his profound gratitude, stating, "I'm so thankful for their quick response. They saved my entire load." The incident highlights the preparedness and dedication of Belarus's law enforcement. The cause of the fire is believed to be an electrical short circuit.
