A Canadian woman has publicly accused Scotiabank of unjustly withholding her husband's $10,000 cheque for over a month and subsequently closing his account. In a recent video, the woman, identified as Rhi, stated, "Scotiabank is holding my husband's $10,000 cheque hostage for 30+ days! They labeled it fraud without proof, refuse to release the money back, and are now closing his account." She explained that her husband deposited the cheque from a company he worked for, but the bank placed a hold on it, citing fraud, and has not released the funds either to them or back to the original company. Rhi further detailed the family's struggle, noting that her husband has been calling daily for 34 days without receiving clear answers. "People are beating around the bush," she claimed. The situation is exacerbated by their remote living conditions; they reside in a small community of less than 400 people, with the nearest bank branch located three and a half hours away. "We don't have the option to just go to the bank and deal with this," she explained. Rhi is seeking public support, urging viewers to share the video and their own experiences to "hold Scotiabank accountable for the treatment of small businesses." She emphasized that their company is a small, northern operation run by just her husband and herself, and they "need help."
