O veganismo foi uma moda no Brasil?
Filosofia de vida ou tendência de mercado? Entenda as transformações e tensões em torno do veganismo no país
Sao Paulo, Brazil – A recent online video featuring social scientist Nátaly Neri has shed light on a frequently misunderstood topic: the difference between 'cruelty-free' and 'vegan' products. Neri explains that while both terms relate to ethical production, they are not interchangeable. According to Neri, a product labeled 'cruelty-free' indicates that it has not been tested on animals. However, this does not guarantee that the product is free of animal-derived ingredients. Conversely, a 'vegan' product contains no animal ingredients and, by definition, also means it has not been tested on animals. "Not every cruelty-free product is vegan, but every vegan product must be cruelty-free," Neri stated in the video. She further highlighted the role of certification seals, such as the PETA bunny for cruelty-free items or a leaf symbol for vegan products, in simplifying consumer choices. "These seals condense information, making it easier for consumers to quickly understand a product's ethical standards without having to meticulously read complex labels," she added. The video underscores the growing importance of transparent labeling for consumers seeking to align their purchases with their values.
