KANGAROO ISLAND, AUSTRALIA – A two-year-old dachshund named Valerie has been reunited with her owners after an astonishing 529 days lost on Kangaroo Island, Australia. Valerie, who went missing during a camping trip in November 2023, was found alive by wildlife rescuers following an extensive search effort.Wildlife rescuers from Kangala Wildlife Rescue dedicated over 1,000 hours to the search, ultimately locating Valerie using a remote trap. Jared Karran, Director of Kangala Wildlife Rescue, expressed immense relief and joy at her safe return. "We were really happy to find that she doesn't have anything that we're worried about. She's in perfect condition," Karran stated, marveling at the dog's resilience. "Those little legs have traveled some miles."Valerie's incredible survival story has captivated many, highlighting her strong instincts and the dedication of the rescue teams.
