Amazon Recalls Faucets: Lead and Toxic Chemicals Found
Amazon Recalls Chinese-Made Faucets Over Lead Contamination Millions of consumers may be at risk after a recent investigation revealed dangerous levels of lead and other toxic chemicals in certain Chinese-made faucets sold on Amazon. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a recall for four specific brands, urging consumers to immediately stop using these products. The investigation was triggered by Moen, a major American faucet brand, who noticed and tested the products. A third-party lab tested 19 of the top-selling faucets, finding that 17 exceeded national drinking water standards for lead and organic compounds. Eleven faucets surpassed lead standards, while 15 exceeded limits for organic compounds, including carcinogens. "The levels of lead and other contaminants were alarming," said Aaron Bores, from Moen's product engineering team. The CPSC recommends consumers check their faucets and replace any that match the recalled brands, prioritizing the safety of children.
