Massive ICE Operation 'Operation At Large' Raises Concerns About Impact on Other Crimes
A sweeping new ICE operation, dubbed "Operation At Large," is underway across the United States, involving over 5,000 federal law enforcement personnel. The operation, focused on mass deportations and meeting arrest quotas, has raised concerns among federal officials. "There is such a priority on making immigration arrests that it takes longer to get answers on anything else," a law enforcement official told NBC News. The operation includes 3,000 ICE agents (1,800 from Homeland Security Investigations), 2,000 Justice Department employees (FBI, U.S. Marshals Service, and DEA), 500 Customs and Border Protection employees, and 250 IRS agents. This intense focus on immigration is causing delays in other investigations. At least one U.S. attorney's office abandoned a case against a potentially dangerous individual because it lacked an immigration component. This highlights the Trump administration's prioritization of immigration enforcement, potentially at the expense of other critical law enforcement priorities.
