Local Turf Farm Grows World Cup-Ready Soccer Field for Philadelphia
Tuckahoe Turf Farms is preparing to harvest a world-class soccer field for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field. The farm, in collaboration with FIFA and several universities, has spent over a year perfecting the pitch to meet stringent quality standards. "Every single thing on this field is specific towards the livelihood of the grass," explains Keith Salmon, the farm's owner. The meticulous process includes careful cultivation and precise measurements to ensure a level playing field. Following the Club World Cup, the turf will be recycled, providing a sustainable solution and potentially benefiting local athletes. A FIFA representative highlighted the importance of consistent pitch quality across all World Cup venues. This project represents a blend of high-level sports and environmental responsibility, ensuring a top-tier playing surface while minimizing waste.
