Big Money and Bigger Snakes: Florida's Python Challenge Opens Registration
The Florida Python Challenge is back! Registration is now open for the 2025 competition, offering a $10,000 grand prize and an additional $15,000 in other categories. This year, the hunt expands to include Everglades National Park, alongside seven other locations across Florida. Participants will learn to safely capture invasive Burmese pythons, which can grow up to 20 feet long and weigh over 200 pounds. "The Burmese python is an invasive species in Florida, and they can be up to 20 ft long, more than 200 pounds," explains a participant. The competition aims to control the python population and protect the Everglades ecosystem. The added participation of Everglades National Park signifies a significant step in environmental conservation efforts. This year's challenge promises to be bigger and more impactful than ever.
