Cold Case Solved: DNA, Eyewitnesses Crack 1975 Double Murder in Broward County
On Thursday, Broward County Sheriff Gregory Tony announced a major breakthrough in the 1975 cold case murders of Barbara Schreiber and Darlene Zetterower. After nearly 50 years, detectives have identified Robert Clark Keeble and Lawrence Stein as the perpetrators, using advanced DNA technology and new eyewitness testimony. "We compared it to a sibling of the second suspect, and in doing so, 18 months after the original partial profile, we were able to positively identify Lawrence Stein," stated Det. Andrew Gianino of the Broward Sheriff's Office. Both suspects are now deceased, having spent much of their lives in and out of prison. The news brings closure to Kimberly Schreiber, Barbara's sister, who was only five years old at the time of the murders. "She could have been anything. She was smart, she was kind," Kimberly shared, her voice filled with emotion. The successful resolution of this long-unsolved case highlights the power of modern forensic techniques in bringing justice, even after decades have passed.
