The initiative aims to divert waste from landfills and repurpose materials for educational art projects and community resale. Nicole, known online as "nerdy_nicole97," shared her experience, stating, "I have been donating these toilet paper and paper towel cardboard tubes for about two years now, and it's a great way to keep them out of landfills and a great way to give back to the community as they go toward art projects for kids and really cool sustainable art projects." She first encountered the concept while assisting with a children's art event at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center. The Resource Depot, described by Nicole as her "favorite nonprofit creative reuse center," focuses on "turning waste into wonder." They achieve this through a resale shop, sustainable art initiatives, and events designed to inspire creativity through an environmental lens. The center accepts various new and pre-loved items, promoting a circular economy and reducing waste.
