Zamboanga Sibugay Province reports its first confirmed case of mpox. A three-year-old girl from Tungawan municipality is currently recovering after receiving appropriate medical care at Dr. George T. Hofer Medical Center. The Provincial Health Office (PHO) confirmed the case and is conducting a thorough investigation. Dr. Ulysses D. Silorio, Provincial Health Officer, stated, "We are currently conducting a thorough investigation. The first confirmed case of monkeypox in the province was validated by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) and officially relayed to us through the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (RESU) of CHD-9." The PHO is also implementing contact tracing and urging the public to adhere to minimum public health standards, including proper hand hygiene, wearing masks, and physical distancing. The video highlights the importance of early detection and accurate diagnosis in containing the spread of mpox. While there are vaccines available for mpox, such as Jynneos and ACAM2000, they are not currently available in the Philippines. The report concludes with a call for public cooperation and adherence to health advisories to ensure the swift response to suspected cases.
