Toll Road Repairs in Kostanay Region: Drivers Frustrated by Poor Conditions
Kostanay Toll Road Repairs Underway Amidst Driver Complaints Kostanay, Kazakhstan – Drivers in the Kostanay region are expressing frustration over paying tolls on sections of highway in disrepair. The issue came to light after a recent briefing by Andrey Gorvat, director of the regional branch of KazAvtoZhol, where he stated that a resolution to suspend tolls on damaged roads was expected "next week." However, drivers report that tolls remain in effect. The problem centers on four sections of toll roads: Kostanay-Rudny (31.5 km), Karabalyk-Russia border (37 km), Peskovka-Toguzak turn (15 km), and Ozernoye-Kostanay (27 km). Following an assessment of the roads' poor condition, KazAvtoZhol proposed a temporary suspension of tolls to the Ministry of Transport. "Yes, I did talk about this," said Gorvat. "The issue is not off the agenda, we hope our proposal will be supported." He acknowledged the lengthy approval process. Repairs are underway, with 23 km of the Kostanay-Rudny section having received its first layer of asphalt. Gorvat clarified that the repairs are extensive and will take time, stating, "The repairs will not be completed quickly. We've only just completed 23 km and only one layer of asphalt." He added that work is also ongoing on the Karabalyk section. Drivers continue to report problems with incorrect toll payment notifications, with Gorvat advising them to contact 1403 for assistance. While the situation remains unresolved, road repairs are progressing, offering hope for a resolution in the near future.
