Travelers seeking to cut costs on their next vacation may find a new strategy gaining traction online. A recent video by influencer nicoletravelandlife demonstrates a method to potentially save hundreds of pounds on hotel bookings by utilizing a Virtual Private Network (VPN). The influencer, who recently searched for a week-long stay in the Maldives for August, initially found a room on Booking.com priced at £1,715 when browsing from the United Kingdom. She then advised viewers to download a VPN application, such as 'Good VPN - World Proxy Master,' and connect to a server in a country known for cheaper prices, such as the USA or Turkey. By re-accessing Booking.com with her location set to Las Vegas, Nevada, the exact same room was listed for $1,703. A quick conversion using an in-app calculator revealed this to be approximately £1,254. This represented a saving of £461 for the identical accommodation. The influencer emphasized the simplicity of the hack, stating, "This works on any destination." She encouraged her audience to save the video and follow her for more money-saving travel advice. However, some viewers in the comments section raised questions regarding potential hidden taxes, conversion charges, or payment method restrictions when booking from a different country, suggesting that the savings might not always be as straightforward as presented.
