Pregnant US Citizen Detained by ICE Despite Warning of Imminent Birth Hawthorne, CA – In a shocking incident that has sparked widespread outrage, a pregnant US citizen was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Hawthorne, California, despite repeatedly informing them of her condition and citizenship. Kerry López Alvarado, 28, was apprehended during an ICE operation on June 10, 2025. Ms. Alvarado stated, “They started grabbing me from both sides, and I bent over to protect my stomach because I was afraid they would hurt me.” According to Ms. Alvarado, she informed the agents that she was just weeks away from giving birth to her baby. Despite this, she was taken into custody, allegedly for interfering with the operation. Her boyfriend and brother were also detained. Ms. Alvarado’s mother, Sra. López, expressed her anger and frustration, saying, “They charged my son with two counts of assault, but he didn’t assault anyone; he was assaulted.
