Ukraine Adjusts Education to AI Age: Some Specializations Face Cuts
Ukraine's Ministry of Education announced plans to restructure higher education, reducing budget places and raising tuition fees for specific specializations. This decision, according to Deputy Minister Mykhailo Vinnitskyi, is a response to the growing threat of artificial intelligence replacing certain professions. "These fields may be displaced by AI," Vinnitskyi stated in an interview with Ukrainian Radio. Specializations facing cuts include tourism, management, journalism, and even some areas of dentistry. Conversely, the ministry plans to increase funding for STEM fields and medical specializations in high demand. This strategic shift aims to prepare Ukraine's workforce for the evolving job market, ensuring graduates possess skills less susceptible to automation.
