Aussie shares horrifying solo camping encounter
Kristen claimed she had not slept 'one single minute' while inside her tent at Kosciuszko National Park.
A solo camper's recent experience in Australia's Kosciuszko National Park has sparked a viral debate online, after she documented a night of intense fear, believing her tent was being shaken by a potential intruder. The camper, who goes by 'KRISTEN | Travel & Hiking' (@nowastedweekendz), uploaded a video on July 10, 2025, from inside her tent, visibly distressed by the sounds and movements outside. "I don't think I've slept one single minute the entire night," she stated in the video, as the tent fabric visibly billowed and shook around her. She explained that listening to true crime podcasts had heightened her imagination, leading her to "slowly convinc[e] myself that someone must be outside my tent deliberately shaking it, trying to scare me." The video, which has garnered over 19 million views, shows the tent shaking violently, creating a suspenseful atmosphere. Viewers have been quick to offer their theories in the comments section. One user questioned, "Why would a serial killer just shake your tent all night?" while another suggested, "Well if you’re in Australia that’s definitely a dingo. You can hear them sniffing and see the paws." Another comment pointed out, "it could be a dingo clawing at the bottom of the tent. the crunching noise around, no other wind noises prior to the clawing and the way the tent moves in a ripple pattern makes me think it’s a wild animal that knows you’ve got food and is used to people camping." However, some empathized with her fear, with one person stating, "Convinced yourself? girl you’ve convinced us all." The incident highlights the psychological challenges of solo camping, especially when faced with unsettling natural phenomena. The camper concluded her post by advising others to "bring ear plugs on your next camping adventure, and to not trust your tired self."
