Toronto Hotel Workers Fight for Fair Wages Amid Contract Dispute
Toronto Hotel Workers Rally for Fair Wages and New Contract Hotel workers at One King West Hotel & Residence in Toronto held a rally on June 6, 2025, demanding a new contract and higher wages. The workers, represented by Unite Here Local 75, have been in negotiations with the hotel since February. While many other hotels in the city have reached agreements with their unions, One King West remains a holdout. "We are here to fight for our contract," stated one worker at the rally. The workers feel they deserve a fair share, in line with the contracts secured by their colleagues at other Toronto hotels. A union representative added, "We had a conciliator from the Labour Board come and join us. We've set a standard across the city, and One King West is one of the last hotels that hasn't met it." The union represents 8,000 hotel and food service workers across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The rally highlights the ongoing struggle for fair wages and working conditions in the hospitality industry. The workers' determination to achieve a contract that reflects the agreements reached at other hotels in the city underscores their commitment to fair treatment.
