From Dutch Roots to K-Pop Global Stage: Boaz van de Beatz on Producing for BLACKPINK and Future Collaborations

AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS – Dutch music producer Boaz van de Beatz has made a significant leap into the global K-pop scene, revealing he produced the beat for BLACKPINK's latest chart-topping hit. In an exclusive interview with NPO 3FM, Boaz shared insights into his groundbreaking collaboration, marking his first foray into the K-pop genre. "It's the first thing I do in K-pop, and that it's such a big act right away, is well... an honor," he stated. He elaborated that he was directly approached by BLACKPINK's team, leading to the creation of the track's beat in a remarkably quick timeframe of "a week or two." Van de Beatz, known for his extensive work with major international artists including Pharrell, Madonna, and The Weeknd, as well as Dutch artists like Mr. Polska, Jebroer, and Ronnie Flex, is now setting his sights on further K-pop ventures. Currently based in Los Angeles, he expressed a strong desire to collaborate with global sensations BTS and the American K-pop group KATSEYE. "I hope we've started a sort of new wave," he concluded, indicating his ambition to shape the future sound of K-pop.
