Ghanaian MP Condemns Government's Delay in Disbursing District Assemblies Common Fund
Accra, Ghana – May 23, 2025 – Member of Parliament Frank Annoh-Dompreh has criticized the Ghanaian government for its delay in releasing the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF). Speaking in a recent interview, Annoh-Dompreh, the MP for Nsawam-Adogyiri, expressed deep concern over the impact of this delay on local governance and development projects. "They are flouting the statutory payment that the law mandates," he stated, emphasizing the government's failure to fulfill its legal obligation. He highlighted that the delayed disbursement leaves District Assemblies without the necessary funds to implement essential projects, impacting healthcare, infrastructure, and other critical services. Annoh-Dompreh further pointed out that contractors are also not being paid, leading to further delays and disruptions. He called for immediate action to address the situation and ensure the timely release of the DACF to support local communities. The government has not yet responded to these accusations. The timely resolution of this issue is crucial for the well-being of local communities and the smooth functioning of local governance across Ghana.
