Health Experts Warn of Prolonged Effects from Popular Fast Food Item. A recent viral video by functional dietitian Olga Cygan has shed light on the surprising physiological impact of consuming the popular Drwal burger, a seasonal offering from McDonald's Poland. The video, which has garnered significant attention, details a timeline of bodily responses, from immediate sugar spikes to extended digestion periods. According to Cygan, within the first 10 minutes of consuming the 906-calorie burger, individuals experience a rapid increase in blood sugar and a release of dopamine, often referred to as the 'happiness hormone.' However, this initial pleasure is quickly followed by adverse effects. After just 20 minutes, the high fructose corn syrup content reportedly intensifies cravings for more food, indicating a potential for overconsumption. The dietitian further explains that the burger's substantial sodium content places considerable strain on the kidneys within 30 minutes, compelling them to work harder to eliminate excess salt. This increased workload can lead to a rise in blood pressure as the heart pumps faster to circulate blood throughout the body. Perhaps most notably, Cygan states that due to its high fat content, a single Drwal burger can take over three days to fully digest, a stark contrast to the 24-72 hours typically required for most common foods. While acknowledging that 'everything is for people' and that 'it's not the product that makes it poison, but its quantity,' Cygan strongly advises against making such high-fat, high-sodium items a regular part of one's diet. The video serves as a cautionary tale, urging consumers to be mindful of their dietary choices and the long-term effects of highly processed foods.
