Găina Mountain, Romania – The traditional 'Târgul de Fete' (Girls' Fair) once again drew crowds to Găina Mountain, an event deeply rooted in Romanian heritage, dating back to 1816. This year's gathering saw the notable presence of members from the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) political party. Speaking from the mountain's peak at an altitude of 1460 meters, an AUR representative highlighted the fair's significance as a symbol of national unity and the preservation of ancestral traditions. He emphasized that the event is more than just a fair; it is a living testament to the Romanian spirit and a connection to the nation's roots. The fair included a ceremony honoring Avram Iancu, a key figure in Romanian history, with a wreath-laying at his monument. A priest also conducted a religious service, further underscoring the spiritual dimension of the traditions. Attendees, many dressed in traditional Romanian attire, participated in the festivities, which featured traditional music and communal gatherings. Another speaker from the AUR party expressed pride in the region's heritage, stating, 'Here on the peaks of the Apuseni, not just people gather, but souls. The Girls' Fair is not just a custom; it is a living testimony that the legacy left by our ancestors lives on in each of us.' The party members stressed the importance of actively living and carrying forward these traditions for future generations.
