Argentinians in Spain Reflect on Low Police Visibility and High Public Safety

Madrid, Spain – A recent online video featuring two Argentinian expatriates has sparked discussion about public safety and police presence in Spain. The couple, who have resided in Spain for three months, shared their observations, highlighting a stark contrast with their previous experiences in Argentina.According to the video, police officers in Spain are not frequently seen patrolling, but rather are deployed for specific events such as football matches or organized protests. One of the individuals stated, "It's interesting not to see police anywhere because there are almost none. You never see them patrolling; they are in certain specific places." Despite this seemingly low visibility, they reported a strong sense of security. The couple emphasized the general civility and peaceful nature of public life. "People here are very happy, very calm, and no one interferes with others in general," one expat noted. They added that they have not witnessed any conflicts, fights, or even verbal altercations since their arrival. Even during late-night visits to bars and discotheques, they observed a calm atmosphere. The video also touched upon the efficiency of law enforcement when called upon. "Any problem you have, you call the police, and they are there instantly," one said, suggesting that the public's good behavior might be partly due to the swift response to disturbances. This first-hand account offers a unique perspective on daily life and security perceptions for those considering relocation to Spain.
