While there is no limit to how much drama can take place on 'Love Island,' the rules relegating contestant behavior are actually much more extensive …
Former Love Island USA contestant Phoebe Siegel has shed light on the reality show's strict wardrobe and branding policies, offering fans a rare glimpse behind the scenes. In a recent video, Siegel confirmed that while contestants are required to bring their own clothing and makeup, all visible brand logos on these items are meticulously covered with black tape by producers. "They do this because you are not to have any clothing brands that are like visible on the show," Siegel explained. She recounted her experience, stating that even items with small charms or logos from her own clothing line, IMGIA, were not permitted to be worn. Siegel detailed the logistical process of entering the villa, noting that contestants initially bring two large suitcases and one small one to a hotel. However, upon being chosen to enter the villa, they are only allowed to bring one large suitcase and a special branded Love Island suitcase. "When you get dumped from the island, you have those 30 minutes to pack everything up, they bring your suitcases back, but you only walk out with your Love Island one that says your name," she added. The other personal luggage is handled by the crew. Furthermore, Siegel revealed that once inside the villa, contestants participate in "wardrobe days" where producers provide a selection of unbranded clothes, such as bikinis and dresses, from which they can choose. These gifted items, she noted, contestants get to keep. This revelation provides valuable insight into the controlled environment of reality television production and how shows like Love Island maintain their brand-neutral appearance.
