
Massive Fire and Explosion Rock Ecuador's Esmeraldas Refinery
A large fire broke out at the Esmeraldas Refinery in Ecuador on May 27, 2025, causing a significant explosion and sending a large plume of smoke into the air. The fire, which started in a fuel oil tank within the refinery's utility substation, was captured on video by a bystander.
