Mexico City Launches "Salud Casa por Casa" Home Healthcare Program
Mexico Launches New Home Healthcare Program for Elderly and Disabled Mexico City – In a significant move to improve healthcare access for vulnerable populations, Mexico City's head, Claudia Sheinbaum, recently announced the launch of the "Salud Casa por Casa" (Health House by House) program. This initiative will provide home-based healthcare services to elderly and disabled individuals, starting June 2nd. The program will not only offer direct medical care but also feature a dedicated telephone center staffed by specialist doctors to address queries and concerns. This added layer of support aims to ensure timely access to expert advice and prompt resolution of any medical issues. "A partir del 2 de junio el programa de atención domiciliaria para la prevención de la salud de los adultos mayores, estará conectado con un centro telefónico en donde atenderán médicos especialistas para aclarar dudas." stated Sheinbaum, highlighting the program's comprehensive approach. Furthermore, the announcement included plans for the establishment of "Farmacias del Bienestar" (Wellness Pharmacies) across the country. These pharmacies are expected to begin operations within the next two months, offering essential medications and healthcare products to those in need. Some will be located in existing "Tiendas del Bienestar" (Wellness Stores), while others will be strategically situated in locations outside traditional healthcare centers, ensuring broader accessibility. This dual-pronged approach of home healthcare and accessible pharmacies promises to enhance healthcare services for Mexico's vulnerable populations, creating a more inclusive and equitable system. The initiative is expected to significantly impact the lives of many elderly and disabled Mexicans, offering them improved access to quality healthcare and essential medications. The program's comprehensive approach, combining home visits with a telephone support system and strategically located pharmacies, shows a commitment to improving healthcare outcomes for vulnerable populations.
