Satu Mare, Romania – Satu Mare County Hospital has officially implemented the 'Magic Hour' procedure, a national program designed to enhance the bond between mothers and their newborns immediately after birth. This initiative ensures that babies are placed directly on their mothers' chests in the crucial first hour post-delivery. Dr. Viorica Varodi, Head of Obstetrics-Gynecology at the hospital, emphasized the emotional significance of the 'Magic Hour.' "We are moving beyond a purely technical procedure to embrace the emotional aspect of childbirth," Dr. Varodi stated. "This protocol ensures that 100% of newborns will experience this immediate connection with their mothers here in Satu Mare." Dr. Szatmári Ludovic, Manager of Satu Mare County Hospital, commended his colleagues for their dedication to this progressive change. "I want to congratulate my colleagues, Dr. Varodi and Dr. Varga, for their efforts in making this a reality," he said. Sorana Mureșan, founder of the Pro Mama Association, which champions the program, explained that Satu Mare is the eighth maternity hospital in Romania to adopt the 'Magic Hour.' "This is a national program that aims to implement this procedure in hospitals across the country," Mureșan noted. The program seeks to promote early bonding, breastfeeding, and overall well-being for both mother and child.
