Dominican Republic Modernizes Police Force with New Service Model
The Dominican Republic is modernizing its police force with the implementation of the New Model of Police Service (NMSP). This initiative, spearheaded by General Juan Guzman Badia, sub-director general of the National Police and director of TransformaciónPolicialRD, aims to improve police-community relations and modernize policing methods. A recent video shows an inspection of officers who will be integrated into the NMSP. The inspection, held at the National Police Palace, focused on verifying that officers meet the NMSP's standards of respect, community proximity, and modernization. General Badia stated, "We are conducting an inspection of the personnel who will be working in the new patrol model that we will implement next Monday." The officers are equipped with new multi-purpose belts, including body cameras, to ensure transparency and accountability. This modernization reflects a commitment to creating a more efficient and citizen-focused police force.
