Local Museum Visitor Captures Rare Footage of Submarine Departing New London Base
A US Navy submarine was recently spotted leaving the New London Submarine Base in Groton, Connecticut. This event was captured on video by a visitor to the nearby Submarine Force Library & Museum. The video shows the submarine departing, accompanied by tugboats. "It was an amazing sight," said the videographer, "I didn't expect to see something like this during my visit." The museum itself offers tours of the USS Nautilus, the world's first nuclear-powered submarine, a vessel with a rich history, including being the first ship to cross the North Pole. The museum also boasts numerous interactive exhibits related to submarine history and technology. This combination of a rare sighting and a fascinating local museum makes for an interesting story.
