Wrong Turn Leads to Disappearance: Venezuelan Immigrant Vanishes After Deportation
Ricardo Prada Vasquez: The Disappearance of a Venezuelan Immigrant Ricardo Prada Vasquez, a Venezuelan national, entered the United States legally in November 2024 seeking asylum. He found work as an Uber Eats driver in Detroit, Michigan. On January 15th, 2025, while delivering a McDonald's order, Mr. Vasquez took a wrong turn on a Detroit overpass, inadvertently crossing the Ambassador Bridge into Windsor, Canada. Upon his return to the US, Mr. Vasquez was detained by ICE. His asylum application was denied, and he was subsequently deported. However, his family and friends have not heard from him since, raising serious concerns about his whereabouts and well-being. His family states, "We are desperate for any information about Ricardo. We fear he has been sent to a dangerous prison in El Salvador." The New York Times investigated the case after a month of inquiries, confirming that Mr. Vasquez was indeed sent to El Salvador. The video highlights the vulnerability of asylum seekers and the lack of transparency surrounding deportations. The case underscores the need for greater accountability and oversight in immigration enforcement.
