'Leg bouncing' could be sign you have undiagnosed condition
Common signs of the condition include restlessness
Professor Ahmed Hankir, a distinguished Consultant Psychiatrist, recently shared crucial insights into Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in adults, emphasizing that it extends beyond childhood and presents with subtle symptoms. In a recent video, Professor Hankir outlined five key indicators of ADHD, categorizing them under the core symptom clusters of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity.According to Professor Hankir, adults with ADHD may experience persistent restlessness or difficulty relaxing, often feeling 'on edge' with a racing mind. Another common sign is impulsivity, manifesting as interrupting others or blurting out thoughts without prior consideration. Impulsive decision-making, such as sudden job changes or large purchases without full deliberation, was also highlighted.Inattention symptoms include difficulty paying close attention to details, leading to missed appointments, deadlines, or overlooked information in forms and emails, which can be mentally exhausting. Lastly, Professor Hankir noted the tendency to start multiple tasks but struggle to finish any, clarifying that this is a processing difference in the brain, not laziness.Professor Hankir stressed that while relating to these signs does not equate to a diagnosis, individuals experiencing persistent symptoms that impact their daily lives should consult a mental health professional for a formal assessment.
