Hermosillo Construction Halted: Environmental Concerns Force Temporary Suspension
Hermosillo Boulevard Hidalgo Construction Halted: INAH Demands Environmental Review Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico – Construction on the Blvd. Hidalgo in Hermosillo's historic center has been temporarily halted. The decision follows concerns raised by local residents about environmental damage caused by the project. The National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) and the Hermosillo City Council agreed to the suspension, effective until May 27th. "Due to inconsistencies by the city council, and complaints from residents, the INAH determined the need to halt the work," stated Juan Pedro Maitorena of Proyecto Puente in a recent video report. The INAH is requiring a complete executive project review before work can resume. This temporary suspension ensures the safety of citizens during the upcoming Fiestas del Pitic. The city council has committed to delivering the complete executive project by May 27th. The INAH will then evaluate the project's impact on the area's historical elements and the environment. This collaborative effort between the INAH and the city council aims to balance urban development with environmental protection and the preservation of historical sites.
