Belgrade Zoo's Newest Resident: A Baby Owl Named 14/25
Belgrade Zoo Welcomes New Baby Owl: '14/25' Takes Up Residence Belgrade, Serbia – Belgrade Zoo recently welcomed a new addition to its family: a baby owl named 14/25. This unique name reflects the fact that it's the fourteenth owl to arrive at the zoo in 2025. The arrival of this little owl has sparked excitement among zoo staff and visitors alike. "This is a significant addition to our collection," says Kristijan Ovari, a zoologist at Belgrade Zoo. "Owls play a crucial role in controlling rodent populations within the city, making them invaluable to urban ecosystems." Ovari was interviewed in the Prva Televizija segment, highlighting the owl's exceptional vision. He explained that owls can process over 180 images per second, far exceeding human capabilities. The video shows the tiny owl, its downy feathers and large, bright eyes. Ovari also pointed out the owl's ears, which are not at the same height, aiding in sound localization. The zoo is currently seeking name suggestions from the public for their new resident, hoping to find a more fitting moniker than its current numerical designation. The arrival of 14/25 is a testament to the ongoing efforts of Belgrade Zoo to conserve and protect Serbia's wildlife.
