Is Vacationing in Kazakhstan Too Expensive? Alakol Costs Spark Debate
Kazakhstan's Domestic Tourism Faces Scrutiny: Is Vacationing Abroad Cheaper? A recent video comparing the cost of a family vacation at Lake Alakol in Kazakhstan to an all-inclusive trip to Egypt has sparked a debate about the affordability of domestic tourism. A man in the video presented a detailed breakdown of expenses for Lake Alakol, revealing that a 10-day stay for four cost over 1 million tenge, significantly more than a 7-day all-inclusive trip to Egypt for the same family. "Alakol, for two adults and one child, cost us 60,000 tenge for a room overlooking the lake. Another child added 10,000 more, and that's without food," he explained. Food alone cost 12,000 tenge per adult and 8,000 for children. The video went viral, with singer Makpal Junisova weighing in on the issue. The contrasting views highlight a need for improvement in Kazakhstan's domestic tourism sector to make it more competitive.
