Traveler Embarks on World's Longest Train Journey from Portugal to Singapore
Lisbon, Portugal — A solo traveler, known online as Ramilla de Aventura, has embarked on what he claims to be the world's longest train journey, commencing his epic trip from Portugal with the ultimate destination of Singapore. Day one of the ambitious endeavor saw the traveler navigate Portugal's rail network, beginning at 4:30 AM in Lagos. He utilized a combination of regional and high-speed trains, including an Alpha Pendular service, to traverse the country. The journey highlighted current logistical challenges, as the traveler noted the absence of a direct train from Lisbon to Hendaye, a route that previously existed before the pandemic. Faced with limited convenient connections to Madrid from Lisbon, he opted for a circuitous route north through Galicia, Spain. After a five-and-a-half-hour ride, he arrived in Porto, where he spent the afternoon exploring the city and working on his online content. The day concluded with a three-hour train ride to Vigo, Spain, where he checked into a hostel late at night, signaling the end of the first demanding leg of his extensive rail adventure.
