Teen Fish Vendor Wins First Gold at Palarong Pambansa

Ilocos Norte, Philippines: Chrisia Mae Tajarros, a 13-year-old runner from Tanauan National High School in Leyte, secured the first gold medal at the 2025 Palarong Pambansa. She dominated the secondary girls' 3,000m race, overcoming a previous silver medal finish in Cebu City last year. The win was particularly emotional for Tajarros, who is also a fish vendor. In a post-race interview, she expressed her gratitude, saying, "Nagpapasalamat po ako kay God po dahil...narinig niya po yung mga panalangin ko." This victory marks a significant achievement for Tajarros and her community.
