Six Golds and Counting: NCR Swimmer's Stellar Palaro 2025 Run
A young swimmer from the National Capital Region (NCR) in the Philippines, Sophia Rose Garra, has made a splash at the 2025 Palarong Pambansa. The 12-year-old has already secured six gold medals in seven swimming events, with one competition remaining. "I'm very happy," Garra shared in a recent interview, "I'm aiming for a seventh gold tomorrow." Garra's journey began at age five, when her mother encouraged her to learn to swim. This decision proved pivotal, as Garra's talent quickly blossomed. Last year, in Cebu, she was named the Most Outstanding Swimmer in her Palaro debut. She dedicates this year's success to God, her family, and her coach, Jenny Guerrero. Looking ahead, Garra dreams of competing in the Olympics, a testament to her dedication and ambition. Her story is an inspiration to young athletes across the Philippines.
