Thinking about giving your upholstered bench a makeover? Learn how adding leather belts to your fabric upgrade can add a touch of style and personali…
A recent online video by sustainable stylist Sarah Teresinski, known as @redeux_style, demonstrates how an old, worn bench can be transformed into a stylish piece of furniture in just 20 minutes. Teresinski, who specializes in restyling and upcycling, showcased her method for giving new life to a faded and ripped bench using readily available materials. The transformation began with recovering the bench's cushion. Teresinski opted for a floral-patterned curtain panel, which she secured to the bench's frame using a staple gun. "I don't care what it looks like underneath, as long as it's going to hold up and be a sturdy piece," she stated, highlighting the practicality of her approach. Following the fabric application, the bench's legs, originally black, were spray-painted in a 'Dark Truffle' shade from BEHR Paint. Teresinski noted the importance of painting before applying fabric, though she adapted her process in this instance. The final touch involved incorporating two white thrifted belts as decorative straps, drawing inspiration from a high-end bench design. "I really like that look," she commented on the leather strap aesthetic. The completed bench, with its fresh floral print, dark legs, and white belt accents, offers a cost-effective and sustainable alternative to purchasing new furniture.
