Bolivia: Santa Cruz Transportation Gridlock Amidst Protests
Santa Cruz, Bolivia, is facing transportation chaos due to widespread roadblocks. The Bimodal Bus Terminal, a major transportation hub, is completely shut down, stranding hundreds of passengers. Protests demanding fuel, social reforms, and the president's resignation have led to the blockades. "The terminal is practically empty," reports Joaquin Matias, a Red Uno journalist at the scene. "Departures to Cochabamba, Sucre, Potosi, Oruro, and La Paz are all suspended." Images show roads blocked with debris and the deserted terminal, highlighting the severity of the situation. While one bus is shown leaving for Yacuiba, Argentina, the majority of routes remain closed. The protests underscore the growing discontent in the region and the significant disruption to daily life. The government is yet to respond to the protesters' demands.
