Bolivia Braces for Cold Front: SENAMHI Issues Alert
LA PAZ, Bolivia – A cold front is expected to sweep across Bolivia in the coming hours, bringing with it a significant drop in temperatures and strong winds, according to the National Meteorological and Hydrological Service (SENAMHI). The agency issued an alert on June 15, 2025, advising citizens to take precautions.
"We have registered very low temperatures due to clear skies," said Marisoul Portugal, a SENAMHI forecaster. "We've also seen strong wind gusts, making it feel even colder."
In El Alto, a city in the La Paz region, temperatures plummeted to 8 degrees below zero. The SENAMHI forecast indicates that the cold front will persist, potentially bringing snowfall to the Cordillera de La Paz region. The alert is in effect until at least Tuesday, with winds expected to reach speeds between 60 and 90 kilometers per hour.
The report highlights the importance of preparedness, urging residents to stay informed and take necessary steps to protect themselves from the cold and strong winds. The timely warning from SENAMHI allows the population to prepare and mitigate potential negative impacts of this weather event.
