Clandestine Dog Breeding Facility Uncovered in Cochabamba: 40 Dogs Rescued from Horrific Conditions
COCHABAMBA, Bolivia – Authorities in Cochabamba have successfully intervened in a clandestine dog breeding facility, rescuing approximately 40 dogs found in deplorable conditions. The operation, led by Zoonosis and local police, uncovered a site where dogs of various breeds, including Yorkshire terriers, Pomeranians, and Chihuahuas, were kept malnourished, infested with ectoparasites, and severely mistreated. According to officials, the animals were housed in an area of less than 50 square meters, indicating extreme overcrowding. Many of the rescued female dogs displayed physical signs consistent with being over-bred, with mammary glands typical of animals subjected to continuous litters without proper rest or recovery. “We have intervened in several clandestine breeding facilities that lack proper health and sanitary conditions, but this one is the most significant due to the sheer number of dogs in such a small area,” stated a representative from Zoonosis. “These animals have lived a lamentable life, and thanks to our intervention, they will now receive the necessary treatment, diagnosis, and therapy.” He further emphasized that the rescued dogs would not be returned to the individuals responsible for their neglect. “I say this with total firmness, these animals will not return to that place under any circumstances.” The official urged the public to act as whistleblowers and fiscalizers, reporting any suspected cases of animal abuse to authorities, as such conditions are often the result of prolonged neglect rather than recent occurrences.
