Claure directly addressed a proposal by Manfred Reyes Villa to secure a $10 billion advance for Bolivian lithium, dismissing it with a pointed critique: "Nobody is going to advance 10 billion dollars for lithium in Bolivia that does not exist," he asserted. He explained that there is currently an "excess of lithium" globally, with supply outstripping demand, making the immediate need for Bolivian lithium less pressing for the international market.
