Sector 3 Kindergarten Expansion to Double Capacity: Bucharest Mayor Announces European Funding Bucharest, Romania – Mayor Robert Negoiță of Sector 3 announced the signing of a European Union funding contract to significantly expand Kindergarten 187. This expansion will nearly double the kindergarten's capacity, creating space for approximately 17 additional groups of children, and importantly, will include the addition of much-needed preschool groups for the first time. "We have many requests," Negoiță stated in a recent video update. "This area is undergoing significant development, and many young families are moving here. They need kindergartens, and especially preschools, which we currently lack." The expansion project includes new classrooms, play areas, and facilities to accommodate the increased number of children. The video shows renderings of the modernized facility, showcasing the bright, child-friendly design. The project is expected to be completed by 2027, providing a significant boost to early childhood education in Sector 3. Negoiță expressed optimism about the project's impact on the community: "We are expanding capacity beyond double what we have now. I have high hopes that by the beginning of 2026, we will start construction on this new building." The project represents a significant investment in the future of Sector 3, addressing a crucial need for childcare and supporting the growth of young families in the area.
