A heartbreaking story of animal neglect has emerged, highlighting the plight of a Great Dane rescued in a severely emaciated state. The dog, believed to be a former breeding animal, was found with a severe tick infestation and exhibited extreme fear and withdrawal. Animal advocate Rocky Kanaka, known for his work with rescue animals, encountered the Great Dane, whom he affectionately calls "Harley" or "Mabel," in an isolation area. Kanaka noted the dog's skeletal appearance and the visible scars on her neck, suggesting a history of neglect and possibly abuse. He expressed outrage at breeders who prioritize profit over animal welfare, neglecting basic needs like tick medication. "She has ginormous ticks," Kanaka stated, emphasizing the dog's suffering. "She has never been pet before. You can just feel the sadness." The dog was initially brought in with two other dogs, a Basset Hound and a Bulldog, all in separate kennels, which Kanaka found suspicious. While the other two dogs have since been adopted, the Great Dane remains. Kanaka is now appealing to the public to help find a loving forever home for the Great Dane, stressing that she "deserves better than this." He is also seeking name suggestions from his audience, hoping to give her a fresh start.
