Garda Commissioner to Review Tina Satchwell Murder Investigation

The Garda Commissioner, Drew Harris, announced on June 6th, 2025, a formal review of the investigation into the murder of Tina Satchwell. Ms. Satchwell's body was discovered in the house she shared with her husband, Richard Satchwell, in Youghal, County Cork. Mr. Satchwell was convicted of her murder in 2017. Commissioner Harris stated, "When you look at hindsight, some of these things can seem very obvious." The review will examine the handling of the case, particularly in light of the victim's isolation and the coercive control exerted by her husband. A report will be submitted to the Minister for Justice and the Policing and Community Safety Authority. This review is a step towards ensuring that future investigations learn from past experiences and improve their effectiveness.
