
Canary Islands Witness Grand Military Spectacle: Armed Forces Day Returns After 39 Years
Santa Cruz de Tenerife hosted the central event of the Armed Forces Day on Saturday, June 7th, 2025, marking the first such celebration on the island since 1986. The event began with the arrival of Their Majesties King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, who were greeted by local authorities. A highlight was the paratrooper landing carrying the Spanish flag, performed by Cabo Primero Francisco Bico. "It was a truly spectacular sight," said one spectator. The parade itself involved 2260 military personnel, 35 aircraft, 21 helicopters, 67 vehicles, and 33 motorcycles. The Patrulla Águila aerobatic team provided a stunning aerial display, celebrating their 40th anniversary. The event was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impression on the citizens of Tenerife.
